EASTER, BUNNIES OR BUTTERFLIES?
I awoke this morning with this thought, "If I were to choose an animal to represent the celebration of the Resurrection, wouldn't it be a butterfly rather than a bunny?" I mean butterflies are the most accurate depiction of resurrection we see in the animal Kingdom. Bunnies are more symbolic of fertility are they not. Why then would anyone then choose a bunny to represent the transformation we experience through resurrection? Good question right? I know the answer by the way and yes it was as it always will be the enemies way of infiltrating Holiness with Worldliness, and we can leave it at that.
The point is this, what the World calls Easter is in fact a celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ after His willing sacrifice and burial as payment for our transgressions. Just as the butterfly represents new birth after emerging from it's transformation while in the cocoon. Few people admire caterpillars, yet fewer still would deny the beauty of a butterfly or even a moth. The fact that Both Moths and Butterflies undergo a metamorphosis which allows them to emerge from the life of being more a worm confined and restricted by their physical state, to flying freely as things of beauty. Is this not the greatest comparison that we can see with our own eyes taking place in the World? The greatest example of what takes place when we become "Born Again"? We go from being bound by our physical restrictions, to becoming much more appealing and free from the bondage we were first born in.
Surely, we may want to consider celebrating butterflies more than bunnies, after all bunnies are a burden to those who care for them and butterflies are no burden at all. They are, however, always a blessing! Something to ponder.
